To further his training in obtaining his personal goal of becoming a first-round draft pick of the New York Mets in 2025, Colby insisted that his mom sign him up for Fall Ball so that he wouldn’t get rusty in the off-season. Once it was determined that the games would be played on Saturday and wouldn’t interfere with a little thing called El Dorado Wildcat Football, his mom agreed and shelled-out the necessary $75 so that the young all-star could continue on his quest. The one question that was not asked ahead of time was….. “what time will the games be held on Saturdays?” Big mistake! The first few games were played at a reasonable hour of 12 noon; however, towards the end of the season….. 8:30 AM game times occurred just a few times too many. Many a late night hours were logged on Highway 167 as Colby and his mom would drive straight back to Little Rock after the Wildcat games so that they could be at the ball field…. maybe not so bright-eyed, but definitely bushy-tailed.
