Baseball season has rolled around and Colby is super-excited to once again be participating in the sport that he truly, truly loves! This is the first year that Colby has played at Junior Deputy and so far he has loved every minute of playing for Coach Scott and with his new team, the Cleveland Indians. Big changes were in store this year for the young sportsman, as he graduated from hitting entirely off the tee to hitting from the pitching machine. Each player is given three attempts at hitting from the machine, and if no hits are made -- the tee comes out. Hitting a ball coming straight at you at 45 miles per hour would seem to be a bit intimidating; however, just as Colby handles everything else... he has taken it all in stride. In fact, during his very first game, he hit it from the machine both times he was up to bat! Colby is learning to play different positions when his team is in field. So far his favorite position is shortstop and his favorite memory is stopping a grounder and tagging the runner out at 2nd base. And, despite the expected glamor of being able to wear all the pads......... the position of playing catcher is not high on his list. Colby said, "Mom, it's like their just trying to hit me with the balls!" Mike Piazza he may not be!
